FRENTE CUMBIERO
With a large and successful career, FRENTE CUMBIERO has become one of the biggest representatives in the exploration of cumbia’s sonic identity in Latin America. Headed by Colombian songwriter and producer Mario Galeano (also founding member of Ondatropica and Los Pirañas), Frente Cumbiero is recognized as a spearhead of the new cumbia movement.

Frente Cumbiero has played in many of the world’s most prestigious stages including:
Roskilde, Womad, Womadelaide, MoMA, Festival Estéreo Picnic, Sonar, Womex, and Fuji Rock Festival. They have toured extensively in Europe and Latin America, and have reached far out places like Russia, Japan and Tanzania.

Mario Galeano has become one of Colombia’s most promising music producers and composers. He has collaborated with the likes of Jorge Drexler for the production of his Grammy-winning album “Bailar en la cueva”, composed two works commissioned by the Kronos Quartet, and did the music arrangements leading the backing band for Diamante Electrico ́s NPR Tiny Desk concert.

In 2020 they released two critically acclaimed works: the EP “Minyo Cumbiero: From Tokyo to Bogota” with the Japanese band Minyo Crusaders and their second LP “Cera Perdida”.

Windy City

'Windy City' was formed in 2004 as a successor to the soul/funk band called 'Asoto Union'. Initially, during 2004-2005, they played Latin boogaloo, funk, and reggae music. However, after they released their second studio album, "Countryman's Vibration (2007)," they shifted their focus to reggae music with a Korean identity, which became the symbol of the band. In 2012, they achieved significant musical success with the release of their mini-album titled "모십니다 (Moshimnida)." Since then, they have continued to build upon their Korean reggae roots while exploring various musical attempts such as dub, afrobeat, and more.

 

Windy City is exploring a theme centered around "A journey to discover roots and essence," moving beyond "just music for the sake of music." They continue to express the concept of "Roots and culture," which becomes clearer through their international performance tours. Recently, Windy City has regrouped with leader Kim Ban-jang at the core, who has concluded his rural life, and they are gearing up for new musical activities.

CHONTADJ

ChontaDJ is the selector alias of Alejandra Gomez, directing founder of Biche, a creative production house for latin alternative music and global roots avant garde. Based in Cali, Colombia, she debuted as a vinyl selector at Fuji Rock Festival 2017 and has since played in Korea, UK, Mexico, Brasil, Chile, across Europe and throughout Colombia.

WACKIDS
와키즈는 2019년 첫 파티이후로 지금까지 꾸준히 레귤러 파티를 통해 다양하고 알찬 음악과 컬쳐를 소개해오고있다. 5명의 디제이는 지구촌 구석구석 숨어있는 킬러튠들을 소개하고, 우리들의 얼을 비추는 시치의 그림과 디자인이 늘 함께한다. 
오는 9월 4일 Roots Now Vol.2에는 스마일리송과 무함마드 깐수 두 선수가 출동하여 콜롬비아와 한국의 두 밴드의 밀도높은 공연에 걸맞는 음악들을 선보일 예정.
