The Red Stripes are Hong Kong’s premier Ska/ Mod band and have been playing to packed audiences all over Asia. Their brand of party Ska with flavours of the 2 Tone era features a full 11 piece band and hail originally from the UK, Canada and Australia. Over the past 5 years they have played festivals and shows around Asia including ‘Modswing’ Singapore, Semarang Ska Festival (with Mr. Symarip), Taiwan Festival of Ska and 2 Tone, Taipei and ‘Jam the UK’, Tokyo. In 2014 they played at the Clockenflap festival in Hong Kong with the son of the legend Prince Buster, Sultan Ali, and again in November 2017 on the main stage.. In 2016 they performed with original Ska creators The Skatalites to a sellout Hong Kong crowd. The band were invited to perform at Kuala Lumpur Ska Festival in 2016 with top names in Asian Ska. They recently performed with Neville Staple (The Specials) performing classic 2 Tone Ska as part of HKIRSF 2017.
After releasing their first 2 singles ‘OK La!’ and ‘Jamie Vardy’ to international airplay and critical acclaim they started work on their major debut album ‘In The Ska East’ during late 2016 and early 2017. The full album was recorded at Billboard Studios, Central, Hong Kong with legendary Ska vocalist, writer and producer Sean ‘Cavo’ Dinsmore’ from New York third wave Ska band The Toasters at the helm. Neville Staple (The Speciasl) has also performed guest vocals. 국내외 유수의 음악페스티벌에 헤드라이너로 매년 이름을 올리며 중견 뮤지션으로 굳건히 자리매김한 대한민국 대표 스카밴드 킹스턴루디스카는 2004년 결성된 이래 15년 동안 '스카'라는 장르를 대한민국 음악씬에 안착시키며 작은 클럽 공연에서부터 대형 페스티벌은 물론 공중파 음악, 예능 프로그램에서까지 친숙한 무대를 선보이며 어떤 무대에서든 관객들을 춤추게 만드는 스카밴드로 라이브 무대에서 탄탄하게 쌓아올린 바탕으로 5장의 정규앨범과 3장의 EP 10장의 싱글을 발표했다. 2013년 Dr. Ring Ding 과 함께한 4번째 앨범Ska N' Seoul 은 미국 시카고의 점프업 레코즈와 함께 월드 릴리즈되며 인터네셔날 스타밴드로 발돋음 하는 계기가 되었고 10주년을 맞아 발매한 통산 다섯번째 정규앨범 Everyday People은 미국의 명 프로듀서이자 엔지니어인 Brian Dixon을 맞이해 자신들의 라이브 무대에서 탄탄하게 쌓아올린 음악적 자장을 더욱 넓히는 시도를 통해 대중음악계의 제 3좌표를 형성했다는 평을 받았다. 15주년을 맞은 올해는 상반기 새로운 음원의 발표와 함께 시에라 네바다 월드 뮤직 페스티벌을 포함한 캐나다,북미 투어를 준비중에 있다.
The nine-piece Korean ska band Kingston Rudieska filter and fuse ska, jazz, reggae, dub and nyahbinghi through the Korean experience. The group has drawn rave and explosive responses from fans across Asia. Through their 100+ performances each year, including a handful of large headlining slots, they won "The Largest Attraction" award at KT&G Sang Sang Ma Dang.
Although South Korea is about as far from Jamaica as a country could be, that hasn't prevented authentic Jamaican music, namely ska and reggae, from reaching her shores. Korea's first traditional ska band, Kingston Rudieska, has been paying respect to the roots since they began in 2004. The nine- piece band blends bluebeat, ska, jazz, reggae, dub, and nyahbinghi chanting into a final product that is uniquely Korean; something the band has dubbed "Feast Ska." Their shows mix foot-stomping instrumentals, accompanied by a four-piece horn section, with warm, soulful vocals sung by "Sugar" Seok Yul Lee. Their performances are punctuated with a jammy, improvisational vibe as many of the members are trained jazz musicians. The music pays enormous respect to ska pioneers, The Skatalites. It's not uncommon, during a set, to hear an impromptu Skatalites cover kick off an improvisational jam to the delight of the crowd.
Over the past fourteen years, they've come a long way from playing dingy basement clubs to appearing on some of the nation's biggest stages, fostering a love of Jamaican rhythms to a nation still newly discovering the genre. They've appeared at nearly all of Korea's major music festivals, including Jisan Valley Rock Festival, Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival, Busan Rock Festival, Seoul Jazz Festival, Rainbow Island Music Festival, and Grand Mint Festival. Additionally, Kingston Rudieska has appeared on numerous televised music programs in Korea.
Kingston Rudieska has had the privilege of performing with many other talented musicians and bands. They've shared the stage with Japanese bands such as Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Eskargot Miles, and Cool Wise Men, North American groups the Slackers and Chris Murray Combo, as well as Babylove and the van Dangos (Denmark), T-bone (Thailand), Babylon Circus(France), Dr. Ring Ding Ska Vaganza (Germany), and Skazz (Australia). Most recently, they recorded an EP with Jamaican music legend Dr. Ring Ding (Germany). They recorded their first single in 2006, and since then they've released three full-length albums, not to mention one EP and a couple digital singles, and contributed a track to the United Colors of Ska 4.0 compilation on Pork Pie Records (Germany).
Kingston Rudieska have taken their next giant leap towards world ska domination with their 2016 double CD release, Everyday People. As evidenced by their previous albums, the band's musicality and devotion to Jamaican styles has never been in doubt. But Everyday People shows a more mature group intent on bringing new concepts to a classic genre. Undoubtedly, the most exciting aspect of this album is the production efforts of Brian Dixon, formerly of the Aggrolites. His old-school studio techniques and Gestalt approach to music has tapped into the sounds of classic Jamaican recordings and, somehow, old Korean psychedelic rock cuts as well. The result is a soulful, warm vibe. Everyday People is an example of how the right producer can elevate a band to a better version of themselves.
노선택과 소울소스 / NST & The Soul Sauce
노선택과 소울소스는 뛰어난 연주 자들의 조합으로 밴드 결성부터 레게 드림 팀이라 불리며 관심을 모았던 노선택과 소울소 스는 극동아시아의 오랜 뿌리적 사상철학을 바탕으로 루츠레게, 사이키델릭과 재즈, 아프 리칸 블랙 비트위에 한국적인 색채와 그루브까지 한 폭의 수묵담채화처럼 펼쳐내는 한국형 레게밴드다. 레게에 대한 한없는 애정과 존경을 바탕으로, 한국적인 색채와 그루브가 더해진 소울소스만의 레게를 전하며 묵직한 베이스 선율에 개성 넘치는 연주가 더해진 음악을 통해 레게 특유의 느긋함과 유쾌함을 경험할 수 있다.
2016년 봄 발표한 첫 앨범 '헤븐 이즈 히어/송 포 리코(Heaven is Here/ Song for Rico)'을 시작으로 그해 7월 일본 후지 락 페스티벌, 8월 홍콩 국제 레게 스카 페스티벌의 헤드라이너에 이름을 올렸고 국내의 펜타포트 락 페스티벌, 자라섬 국제 재즈 페스티벌에 초청되었다. 2017년 6월에는 미서부 투어의 일환으로 시에라 네바다 뮤직 페스티벌과 자메이카의 레전더리 레게 아티스트 리페리(Lee Perry)의 단독공연에 초대되는등 이례적인 행보를 펼폈다. 동양표준음향사와 시카고의 자메이칸 뮤직 레이블인 Jump Up Records를 통해 전세계 발매된 7인치 바이닐은 세계 최대 유통망인 레게레코드닷컴의 레게 장르부문 세일즈차트 4위/서브장르부문 1위에 각각 랭크되는 등의 성과를 올리기도 했다. 2017년 여름 레게씬의 거장 프로듀서 ‘우치다 나오유키 Uchida Naoyuki ’ 함께한 정규앨범 Back When Tigers Smokes 을 공개했다.

Acousoljah (어쿠솔쟈)는 유니크하고 독보적인 목소리로 자신의 세계관과 생각을 노래하는 레게뮤지션 'Rupshan‘ 과 특유의 타고난 센스와 실력으로 공감을 이끌어내는 기타리스트 겸 작곡가인 추일엽이 만나 결성한 어큐스틱 레게 듀오이다. 그 재능을 발견한 '루드페이퍼'의 전폭적인 지원 아래에 2015년 '덥 타운 부개' (싱글)를 통하여 데뷔 직후부터 많은 관심을 받아온 룹샨의 라가머핀을 필두로 한 남성스럽고도 세련된 라인, 그리고 버클리 출신의 추일엽의 루프스테이션을 활용한 감각적인 기타 연주가 어우러진 어쿠솔자의 음악은 레게에 음악적 기반을 두지만 기존에 비춰지던 어쿠스틱 음악에 대한 고정관념을 깨며 최근 가장 주목해야할 레게 뮤지션으로 떠오르고 있다. 레게, 루츠스카 록스테디, 캐리비안 음악 셀렉터 CHEONG DAHL. CHEONG DAHL은 EASTERN STANDARD SOUNDS의 설립자이자 한국의 스카 밴드 KINGSTONE RUDIESKA과 루츠 레게 밴드 NST & THE SOUL SAUCE 트럼펫터로도 유명하며, 한국의 스카 레게 씬의 가장 중요한 인물이다. 과거에는 Lee Perry, Dr. Ring Ding, DJ Scratchy, Cumbia Kid, Txako 등과 협연. Cheong Dahl is a Jamaican music selector who specializes in from ska classic in the early 60s to Rock Steady, Reggae and Caribbean music, who is also a trumpeter of Korea's renowned ska band Kingston Rudieska, formed in 2004. Starting with the world-wide release of Ska N' Seoul, the collaborative album with German ska virtuoso Dr. Ring Ding in 2013, Kingston Rudieska have come into the spotlight in the international ska music market. They have released a split album, Far East Asia, in Japan which topped 4 sections of the sales chart on reggaerecords.com, and thanks to that, they were invited to Tokyo Little Journey and Sunset Live in Fukuoka. They also released ten-year anniversary album, Everyday People, in collaboration with American Jamaican music producer Brian Dixon, and it was praised for connecting Korean ska to the world. Cheong dalh is also a member of the reggae band, NST & The Soul Sauce who were recently invited to Fuji Rock 2016 and another Seoul based reggae band, Seoul Riddim Superclub. And on top of his bands, he is a founder/owner of the Jamaican music label and vinyl store Eastern Standard Sounds and introduces new trends of Jamaican music and modern musicians. Working as a organizer for the biggest reggae festival in Korea, Rise Again, and throwing various reggae parties, his name is easily found at all the reggae events in Korea. 어렸을적 부터 블랙뮤직의 영향을 받아 타악기 연주를 시작, 다수의 아티스트와의 협업을 거쳐 현재는 Reggae/Dub음악을 중심으로 활동을 하는 뮤지션 Smiley Song은 Windy City와 Kingston Rudieska를 비롯한 다수의 밴드 혹은 그룹에서 객원으로 연주 활동을 시작하여, 2007년부터 2009년까지 Dub밴드 I&I Djangdan(아이앤아이 장단)의 오리지날 맴버로 활동, 같은 시기 셀렉타로써의 활동을 시작했다. 2012년부터는 프로듀서로 활동영역을 확장했으며, 전설적인 영국의 Alpha & Omega의 새로운 프로젝트, Dub Dynasty의 앨범에 참여, Alpha Steppa와 콜라보를 하는 등 유럽/일본 등 해외 아티스트들과 많은 협업 결과물을 발표하기도 했다. 2014년~15년 상반기까지 네차례에 걸쳐 동경/오사카/나고야를 비롯한 일본 7개도시의 십여곳이 넘는 장소에서 초청을 받아 장기 투어를 하였으며, 2년 연속 사운드시스템의 대부 Jah Shaka의 일본 투어(나고야 2회, 동경 1회)의 게스트로 출연하는 등, 활발히 해외 아티스트와의 교류의 폭을 넓혀가고 있다. 현재 동양표준음향사의 프로듀서/오거나이져/셀렉타로 활동을 하고 있으며, 멜로디카/퍼커션 플레이어로써도 국내외 아티스트들과의 공동 작업물을 늘려가고 있으며, 개인 싱글 및 앨범 작업을 진행중이다. 2014,2015 년에는 JAH SHAKA JAPAN TOUR에 게스트로 출연. 동양표준음향사의 셀렉터로 2016년 후지락페스티벌, 2016 시에라 네바다월드뮤직 페스티벌에 출연을 포함 US 투어, 콜롬비아 투어를 성공적으로 마쳤다. www.nst-thesoulsauce.com
